Italian/Slovenian Alexander Gadjiev scooped the pool at the 2021 Sydney International Piano Competition, winning first prize as well as six of the minor prizes. Alexander is now in the middle of a national tour as part of the prize winner’s package and will perform for local audiences on Sunday 30 October at St Bernard’s Church in Batehaven.
Alexander Gadjiev is an artist on the cusp of a major international career. The audience can expect a stunning display of virtuosic skills in a program that will feature works by Chopin and Schumann. The concert will also include the new work by Australian composter Colin Spiers, who won The Sydney Piano Competition’s ‘Composing the Future’ competition in 2021. The prize-winning piece ‘Eine Kleine Nacht Music’ can often be heard on ABC Classic.
