Osmosis
Period Woodwind Quintet from
the Netherlands

Based in the Netherlands, OSMOSIS is an exciting new ensemble consisting of five musicians of international standing who share a love of early wind instruments and their repertoire.
The quintet’s focus is the early Romantic period, a time of experimentation and rapid change in wind instrument construction. At that time the soundscape of the wind section was changing from one decade to the next and expanding in range and dynamic flexibility.
Each of the performers in OSMOSIS has their own international performing career. We can expect to hear them perform music by Reicha, Beethoven, Danzi and Mengal.
Programme:
Reicha's revelation - Romantic music for wind instruments
FRANZ IGNAZ DANZI (1763-1826)
Quintet op.56 No.2 in g minor
JOSEPH MARTIN MENGAL (1784-1851)
Quintet after Mozart in g minor
LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN (1770-1827)
Variations on "Là ci darem la mano" from Mozart's "Don Giovanni" for flute, clarinet and bassoon
ANTON REICHA (1770-1836)
Quintet op.88 No.2 in E flat major

Since their formation in 1990, the Resonants have held many concerts around the Canberra region and were finalists in the ABC Classic FM 2006 inaugural national choir of the year competition.
The Resonants sing a variety of styles of music, from different periods and in different languages. Madrigals, spirituals, jazz, contemporary - they are all part of the Resonants repertoire.
They will perform a cappella choral music for us in Batemans Bay.
